Ministries of Economy and Industry, UNDP organize workshop to develop local industries

The workshop, organized by the Ministries of Economy and Industry, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) discussed ways to develop local industries and the extent to which it is possible to support affected industries and facilities.

The workshop, which was held at the Ministry of Industry today focused on the importance of finding solutions to the energy issue and overcoming difficulties such as the sanctions imposed on Syria, which negatively affect industry.

The workshop also focused on developing human and administrative cadres, increasing investment in training and establishing specialized industrial chambers.

Deputy Minister of Industry Mohammad Yassin Houria stressed the need to develop government policies and programs that encourage the return of investors and provide them with the appropriate environment for industrial work and success and stimulate the spirit of initiative and innovation among them, by providing the necessary support to develop and modernize their industries, such as customs tariffs and facilitating administrative procedures.

Houria noted the importance of supporting local production and providing opportunities to increase exports and strengthen the local economy.

He considered the return of Syrian investors abroad a vital matter that contributes significantly to stimulating economic growth and developing local industries.
