Our Basketball Team Starts With a Win in Qatar

Our national basketball team managed to win against the Qatari Al-Gharafa Club (63/86) in its first friendly match, within its training camp in Qatar.

The first quarter of the match ended with Al Gharafa leading(14/15) while the second quarter ended in our team’s favor (20/23).

In the third quarter, Al Gharafa returned to take the lead(18/20) before our team regained control and ended the last quarter in its favor with a large margin (8/31).

In a statement to Al-Thawra, our national team coach Haitham Jameel expressed his satisfaction with the camp atmosphere, which he described as very good.

He also spoke about the team’s first friendly match withAl-Gharafa, noting that it is the first match the team has played after a long
period of absence.

Jamil added: “Achieving victory is important and we did it by a good margin, although we did not start the match in a good way, due to the team’s distance from the atmosphere of  matches.”

He also explained that he gave space to the fourteen team players to participate in the match, including the naturalized American Myron, who did well.
