Statement issued by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing in Gaza regarding the initial assessment of damages

Since the beginning of the war of extermination launched by the Israeli occupation army on the Gaza Strip, which made the term genocide the most accurate description of what happened the Ministry of Public Works and Housing began conducting the initial field assessment of the completely destroyed housing units and those partially damaged in a way that made them uninhabitable. According to the Ministry’s estimates, the number of completely destroyed or severely damaged housing units is expected to exceed 280,000 housing units, noting that the cases that have been assessed in the field so far have reached nearly 250,000 housing units (170,000 housing units completely demolished, 80,000 housing units uninhabitable). Work is also underway to complete linking the first assessment database to the geographic information system in coordination with the municipalities. This data is periodically shared with the Ministry of Social Development and partner institutions as a basis for providing shelter interventions.
