Minister of Economy: Protecting the national product is not an option, but a duty

The Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Eng. Basel Abdul-Hannan, confirmed that protecting the national product is not an option but a duty.

He noted that the Ministry of Electricity will issue a new electricity tariff tomorrow for industrial and economic sectors, which will be in US dollars.

This came during a meeting between Minister Abdul-Hannan and Aleppo Governor Eng. Azzam Gharib with several stakeholders in Sheikh Najjar Industrial City, along with members of the Chamber of Industry’s board of directors and a group of industrialists and investors.

The meeting was devoted to discussing the current situation and demands of industrial facility owners in the city. Minister Abdul-Hanan highlighted the need to form specialized committees to study the textile industry in all its stages, aiming to develop a strategic vision and an integrated set of decisions that meet the needs of industrialists, support work and production. He pointed out that the same approach will be applied to the leather and footwear industries, with an expanded focus on alternative energy.

For his part, Aleppo Governor Azzam Gharib emphasized the importance and significance of the industrial city, which represents a vital economic hub.

The attendees made several interventions, highlighting the main challenges and obstacles facing the national industry, along with proposals to overcome them.
