Slovenian Foreign Minister: lifting sanctions on Syria is an urgent matter

BERLIN, Feb.15, (ST)-Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tanja Fajon, has declared that lifting sanctions on Syria is an urgent matter.

She expressed her country’s aspiration to see a government that represents all segments of the Syrian people.

Fajon’s statement came in an interview with Al Jazeera TV channel on the sidelines of the the 61st Munich Security Conference, which is being held in Germany.m

“I spoke during my visit to Syria with President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, and with members of the government, and we hope that there will be a political transformation, and that the prospective government will represent all minorities and women well,” the Slovenian minister said.

She called for greater involvement of the international community in providing humanitarian aid to the Syrian people, and the necessity of working to lift sanctions on Syria after the fall of the regime.
