Jaafari: geopolitics changes due to the steadfastness of the Syrian people

NEWYORK,(ST)_ Syria’s permanent representative to the UN Dr. Bashar Jaafari said that Lakhdar Brahimi resigned from his post as UN envoy and it is premature to talk about his successor, noting the mistakes happened during his tenure, including intervention in Syria’s internal affairs – a mediator does not interfere in the affairs of any sovereign state.

On statements by French Foreign Minister Jaafari told a news conference yesterday that these remarks were irresponsible in pushing for the use of force, rather than resorting to UN Charter and the principles of the international law, stressing that France is part of the problem rather than part of the solution, and that the French politics are reckless towards Libya, Egypt, Syria and in the whole the region.

He pointed to the harms  committed by the U.S. administration, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey to the Syrian people, stressing that many terrorists came from Europe and entered Syria through the Turkish border.

“Political geography has changed, due to the steadfastness of the Syrian people towards all pressures made by regional and international powers, “ Jaafari said, pointing out that Syria changed this geography.

He regretted that the U.S. administration considers Boko Haram in Nigeria, a terrorist group and at the same time helps the same people in Syria, naming them ” freedom fighters ” and provides them with weapons and aid.

“Israel ” supports the armed terrorist groups by providing medical treatment to the wounded takfiris and training the so called ” Free Syrian Army ” Jaafari emphasized, adding, that Israel is “fully engaged in this issue and these are worrying developments.

Concerning national reconciliation, Jaafari indicated that the Syrian government strongly encourages national reconciliation in all its forms on all the Syrian territory, describing the process as comprehensive, and continuous and that every day hundreds of people surrender themselves and give up their arms in accordance with agreed upon processes between the parties concerned so that they integrate into civilian life, adding that what hinders these processes is the intervention of third parties.
