Voting right and duty of every honest citizen

The constitutional process of the upcoming presidential elections in Syria is an opportunity for each citizen to play an important role in building strong, modern Syria and helps put visions and plans to reactivate Syria’s original values and its bright future. All Syrians inside and outside the country should be part of the civilized democratic process and head for polls to vote for the candidate they deem suitable and able to restore stability and peace to Syria. Syrian people will choose the person who can preserve their firm and unwavering national and pan-Arab principles, especially with regard to resisting the Zionist project in the region.  Each citizen is responsible for rebuilding the Syrians’ psychology and reconstructing the country economically, educationally and socially.

We should go for the presidential elections with conviction and out of belief in our homeland. We should choose the person who can protect Syria and the unity of Army and institutions, combat terrorism and protect sovereignty of Syria. The upcoming elections are a lifeline for the democratic process in Syria, and the Syrian citizens will choose whom they see fit to steer their country to the shores of safety and stability.

The presidential elections are sheer national event that will prove the Syrians’ adherence to national sovereignty and voting is the right and duty of every honest citizen. Syrian people will make the elections an overwhelming national event to continue the construction process and consolidate their national unity in confrontation of the conspiracies hatched against their country. Syria does not accept any interference in the presidential elections at all, being a national domestic issue. Neither the UN Secretary-General, nor the U.S. President has the right to comment or interfere in these elections.

The presidential elections are a special democratic experience in the history of Syria. Throughout the past three weeks, huge crowds of Syrian citizens flood streets and public squares across the country in massive shows of support to the Syrian army in the war against terrorism and the forthcoming presidential elections. Spurred by optimism over presidential elections scheduled for June 3, the participants voiced support for a democratic process set in motion in their country. The participants expressed unswerving support for the army in its battle against terrorism and strong adherence to the national principles. While voicing appreciation of the great sacrifices made by the army to restore security to all areas across Syria, the participants stressed that the Syrians will remain defiant in the face of the conspirators and are now more determined than ever to hold the presidential elections, which those conspirators are continuously trying to impede.

The rallies held in various Syrian governorates seek to send a strong message that the Syrians are resolved to carry on with constitutional duties as embodied by upcoming presidential elections. Another important message is that the Syrian people can manage their own affairs and choose their leader away from foreign meddling. The upcoming elections will deepen democratic principles in Syria and usher in a new phase in its history. The vigorous participation in the upcoming presidential elections is greatly important as it reflects the will of the Syrian people and their insistence to determine their own future without any foreign diktat. Participating with vigour in the upcoming elections reflects the will of the people in a civilized way and proves that the Syrians are endowed with maximum degrees of awareness and patriotism.

The participants underlined the importance of the democratic process Syria is currently witnessing amidst the crisis. Syria’s martyrs have charted a path towards victory over terrorism whose signs are looming on the horizon as evidenced by the democratic state prevalent across the country.

The elections are a national right and duty, and a sovereign choice that the Syrian people decide away from foreign meddling. It is a national constitutional activity and taking part in it is a duty and a right of all Syrians.

The elections are the culmination of a democratic state that Syria is witnessing and a turning point in Syria’s history. Everyone should cast their ballots so as to send a strident message of defiance to the enemies of Syria.

Syria will remain the land of resistance and steadfastness and a destination for all Arabs to learn democracy as they had learned from it how to love their own countries and protect them against foreign intervention.
