Russian President affirms his country’s support for Syria’s stability and territorial integrity

President Ahmad Al-Sharaa received a phone call from his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, during which President Putin congratulated President Al-Sharaa on assuming the presidency of the republic during the transitional period.

During the phone call, President Al-Sharaa emphasized the strategic and strong relations between the two countries and Syria’s openness to all parties in a way that serves the interests of the Syrian people and enhances security and stability in Syria.

President Al-Sharaa also exchanged viewpoints with the Russian president regarding the current situation in Syria and the political roadmap for building the new Syria.

In turn, The Russian president reaffirmed his country’s support for Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

He also expressed his country’s readiness to reconsider agreements signed between Russia and the former regime.

Additionally, the Russian president stressed the necessity of lifting economic sanctions on Syria.

He also extended an official invitation to Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Sheibani to visit Russia.
