Civil Defense Commemorates The Second Anniversary of The Devastating February 6 Earthquake

The Syrian Civil Defense held a number of events today on the second anniversary of the devastating earthquake that struck Syria and southern Turkey on the 6th of February 2023, when more than 4,500 people lost their lives, and more than 10,400 were injured in various Syrian regions.

The Civil Defense said in its Telegram channel that its volunteers participated in a community event to commemorate the painful anniversary in the city of Jinderes in Afrin countryside, which was one of the most affected Syrian cities by the earthquake.

In Homs, the Civil Defense organized an open-air exhibition next to the museum near Clock Square.   The exhibition displayed images from the response to the earthquake disaster and the efforts of teams during search and rescue operations and the recovery of victims.

The Civil Defense also called for participation in two solidarity stands in both the amphitheater of Tahrir Park in Idlib and Umayyad Square in Damascus next to the Damascene Sword monument at half past six in the evening today.

These events are part of the Civil Defense’s efforts to commemorate the victims, show solidarity with their families and survivors, and to highlighting the scale of the disaster and the growing humanitarian needs.
