Foreign Ministry Regrets inability of Syrians to participate in presidential election, as intercepted by French government
DAMASCUS,(ST)_ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that since Syria’s announcement to open the door for nomination for the presidential elections according to the enforced constitution and laws, France has been trying within a group of countries that have supported terrorists and contributed to shedding the blood of the Syrians, in a hostile propaganda campaign against the Syrian people,in opposing and refusing these elections, noting that France officially notified the Syrian embassy in Paris if vetoing the holding of these elections on the entire French territory, including the Syrian embassy in Paris.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates yesterday regretted the inability of the Syrian citizens residing in France from exercising their constitutional right to participate in the presidential elections, being intercepted by this unjust decision taken by French government at the Syrian Embassy in Paris.
The ministry stressed that holding these elections in the Syrian embassies abroad is linked to the constitution and the laws and that the Syrian people alone, will determine in full freedom who will lead them in the next phase, regardless to all obstacles, stressing that by adopting this position, France uncovers its real face in opposing the democratic aspirations of the Syrian people in an contradictory attitude with the values of the French people to freedom and democracy.
The ministry concluded its statement by stressing that the French position falls within the framework of the open support given by France to the terrorists in Syria and its alliance with them, with the aim of destroying Syria and undermining her positions at various levels stressing that Syria is demanding the world public opinion to condemn these irresponsible acts by the French government.
