President Erdogan: The Syrian people are able to revive their country

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed that there is no doubt in the ability of the brotherly Syrian people, who inspired the region by their determination to resist, can revive their country again.

The Turkish president said in several posts on “X” platform: “I congratulate once again my dear brother President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, and the Syrian people for their struggle and for achieving victory.”

He added that a new page has been opened not only in Syria, but in our entire region, after 13 years of oppression and injustice.

President Erdogan added: At this critical stage, Turkey attaches great importance to building a system for the country with a comprehensive approach that embraces everyone and reflects the will of the Syrians.

He noted that in addition to humanitarian aid, his country is also ready to provide the necessary support for the reconstruction of destroyed cities and vital infrastructure in Syria.

Erdogan considered that the faster economic development, the more the voluntary return of Syrians will gain momentum.

Erdogan stressed that the international sanctions imposed on Syria constitute an obstacle to the country’s recovery in terms of economy and infrastructure.

He indicated that the Turkish efforts to lift the sanctions have resulted in a partial easing of the sanctions that were imposed on the former regime, and that these efforts will continue until the results are fully achieved.

“Since the first day, we have proven with concrete steps and without hesitation that we stand by the Syrian people. After reopening our embassy in Damascus, we opened our consulate general in Aleppo.

In addition, Turkish Airlines started its flights to Damascus. We have done our utmost diplomatically, during the first two months of the new administration, in order to make Syria’s voice heard in the region and at the international level,” President Erdogan said.

President Erdogan pointed out that officials of the new administration in Syria have visited Turkey, and that many Turkish ministers have visited Damascus and will continue to do so.

He stressed that work is being done to develop relations between the two countries in a multidimensional manner and in all fields, including trade, civil aviation, energy, health and education.

President Erdogan pointed out that the basis of the Turkish policy towards neighboring Syria has long been to preserve the integrity and unity of its territory. He clarified that his meeting with President Ahmed Al-Sharaa was based on this principle.

President Erdogan said “I am pleased to see that we are in complete agreement on almost all issues, and my dear brother and I evaluated the joint steps that can be taken to establish security and economic stability in Syria, and we discussed in particular the steps that should be taken against the separatist terrorist organization occupying northeastern Syria and its supporters.

President Erdogan added: “I assured President Al-Sharaa that we are ready to provide the necessary support to Syria in the fight against ISIS and PKK, and all forms of terrorism”.

President Erdogan reiterated his country’s support for the Syrians in the context of controlling the camps in northeastern Syria.

He welcomed the strong will that was shown by President Al-Sharaa regarding the fight against terrorism, stressing his confidence that by acting in the framework of solidarity between us, “we will be able to ensure that an atmosphere of peace and security, free of terrorism, prevails in our shared geographical areas.”
