Qatar welcomes transitional steps aimed at enhancing national consensus in Syria

Qatar’s  Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Qatar welcomes transitional steps aimed at enhancing national consensus in Syria.

The State of Qatar welcomes the steps aimed at restructuring the brotherly Syrian state and enhancing consensus and unity among all Syrian parties, paving the way for the consolidation of civil peace, security, stability, and establishing a state based on law, institutions, development, and prosperity.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that the critical phase in Syria requires the state to monopolize weapons within a single army that represents all components without exclusion, in order to preserve the country’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and to pave the way for peaceful transfer of power through a comprehensive political process.

The ministry reaffirms the full support of the State of Qatar for Syria in all fields and its effective contribution to all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, development, prosperity, and a dignified life.
