Scientific Council for Pharmaceutical Industries calls for building advanced pharmaceutical system

A number of pharmaceutical factory owners from various governorates called for facing the challenges imposed by the former regime on their factories, and drawing up new policies that contribute to building an advanced pharmaceutical system.

The participants demanded, during a meeting of the Director of the Drug Control Department  at the Ministry of Health with the Scientific Council for Pharmaceutical Industries, held today in Damascus, to work on reducing fees on raw materials used in the production of medicines and laboratory tests, and fees for licensing items, encouraging exports, and rehabilitating factories that were destroyed. In addition, the participants affirmed the need to build partnerships that enhance the capabilities of local factories to manufacture medicines.

They noted the need to find a new mechanism to improve the quality of medicines and face the challenges facing the sector.

In turn, Director of the Drug Control Deoartment Ibrahim Al-Hassani stressed the depatment’s efforts to enhance self-sufficiency in medicines, and ensure their quality and safety.
