Afforestation campaign in northern countryside of Latakia

An afforestation campaign was launched today at the site of the village of “Al-Sowanah” in the Al-Basit area in the northern countryside of Latakia, under the title “Hand in hand, we will return it green.”

The campaign aims at planting 5,000 saplings of pine, robinia, and carob trees with the participation s representives of the agriculture directorate and the local community.

Director of Latakia Agriculture Abdel Fattah Al-Samar explained in a statement the importance of this campaign as a first step in a series of afforestation campaigns launched by the Ministry with the aim of rehabilitating the forest areas, that were damaged by fires, and contributing to enhancing vegetation cover and supporting eco-tourism.
