EU: We hope to reach a political agreement on easing sanctions on Syria

European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said today she hoped to reach a political agreement on easing sanctions on Syria at the EU foreign ministers’ meeting next week.

“We are ready to implement a gradual approach and discuss the alternative position,” Kallas told Reuters.

The EU foreign ministers are due to discuss lifting some sanctions on Syria at a meeting in Brussels on the 27th of this month.
