Restoring destroyed schools is the focus of a meeting at the Ministry of Education with the Finnish Relief Organization

With the aim of enhancing educational environment in Syria, the Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Education, Youssef Annan, discussed with a delegation from the Finnish Relief Organization ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides. The meeting, which was held at the Ministry of Education building in Damascus, comes within the framework of the efforts made to rehabilitate the educational infrastructure in the damaged schools, where a set of activities were discussed, including providing psychological support to students and teachers. Annan referred to the action plan that addresses the restoration of destroyed schools, and the ministry’s commitment to improving educational conditions for affected students, and developing teachers’ skills, by training them in modern educational methods, in line with current educational needs. For its part, the Finnish delegation expressed its readiness to provide support in several areas, including the education of students in category B, and the implementation of community initiatives that aim to increase community awareness of the importance of education. The two sides agreed to continue cooperation and communication to enhance efforts aimed at developing the educational system in Syria.
