Syria wins five awards at the “Entertainment Makers” festival in Riyadh

Syria won five awards at the fifth edition of the “Joy Awards,” which took place during the “Riyadh Season” with the attendance of many Arab and international stars.

The first award was received by the esteemed artist Yasser Al-Azmeh, who was honored with the “Lifetime Achievement Award.” During his speech to the audience, he said: “I am a son of beloved Syria and precious Damascus -a city which holds great appreciation and respect for the Saudi people. Syria taught me that sincere words, noble stances, and constructive criticism are the foundation of all creativity. From here, the idea of ‘Mirrors’ was born, which summarizes everything an Arab viewer wants to understand, while emphasizing that art is not merely a form of luxury or entertainment; it is a window through which we view the positives and negatives of our reality.”

He added: “My recognition at this distinguished event is not just for me alone; I had colleagues and great mentors who left clear marks on all parts of the successive ‘Mirrors,’ each according to their specialty.”

Director Rasha Sharbatji also received the award for “Favorite Series Director” for her work on the series “Awlad Badia.” She expressed her gratitude to Riyadh, the city of dreams, and to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for bringing joy to people’s hearts.

In dedicating her award, she said: “I dedicate this award to my free country, Syria, to the free Syrian people, and to everyone who contributed to a free Syria.”

For his part, star Samer Ismail won the “Favorite Actor” award for his role in the series “The Agent,” stating after his recognition: “In recent years, our goal as Syrians has been to carry our country with us wherever we go. Today, Syria is free and has a great longing for you. We miss seeing you there so we can gather and celebrate together.”

Away from drama, star Assala Nasri won the “Favorite Artist” award, saying: “Saudi Arabia is the foundation of every structure in all fields, including the art that I love and respect. This festival has become associated with many questions I provide answers to throughout the year. I am hardworking, love my field, am dedicated, and believe I am talented.”

Finally, Narin Beauty was honored with the “Favorite Influencer” award, affirming that anyone with hope, ambition, and dreams must be patient and have strong faith in God because God’s plans are better than our own plans.
