New Structure for Ministry of Defense

Media sources said that the Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff agreed with most Syrian factions on the structure of the new Ministry of Defense.

The sources added that the new military leadership reached an agreement with the factions of the National Army in northern Syria regarding the plan to join the army.

The sources said: “The Syrian Ministry of Defense rejected any proposal that gives sectarian, religious or regional privacy to any armed faction. Officers in the Free Syrian Army will have a special status in the structure of the Ministry of Defense to benefit from their experience.”

The sources said: “The Syrian Ministry of Defense is working to form a professional army based on volunteers instead of compulsory service.”
