More than 4,500 hectares cultivated with wheat in Sweida

The areas cultivated with rainfed and irrigated wheat in Sweida have so far reached about 4,504 hectares, according to the Director of Agriculture in Sweida, Eng. Malek Halabi.
Al-Halabi told SANA reporter on Wednesday that the areas cultivated with rainfed wheat have reached 3,838 hectares, with an implementation rate of 11 percent of the current season’s plan, which is the cultivation of 34,065 hectares.
He clarified that the level of implementation of the plan is low due to the late rainfall in most areas and the high costs of production requirements for farmers.
Al-Halabi added: The area cultivated with irrigated wheat has reached 666 hectares, with an implementation rate of 78 percent of the plan which is the cultivation of 857 hectares, indicating that the cultivation operations of rainfed and irrigated crops will continue during the current month.
Regarding barley cultivation, Al-Halabi said that the cultivated area has reached 4,644 hectares so far, all of which are rainfed, with an implementation rate of 14 percent of the total plan for the current season, which amounts to 32,459 hectares.
