Damascus-(ST)- Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdel Moneim Abdel Hafez, on Tuesday met with a delegation from the Syrian community in USA. They discussed the situation of education in Syrian universities after liberation, and reviewed the deteriorating infrastructure of universities, including the shortages in teaching staff, equipment and devices.

After the meeting, the minister told SANA “we received many calls by universities and academics from countries as Turkey, expressing their readiness to cooperate at the scientific level. They also suggested exchanging visits and receiving students for study”.

Minister Abdel Hafez explained that meetings with delegations will continue with the aim of building universities and developing the educational process. He pointed out that there is a plan to hold joint workshops to improve the situation of universities in terms of infrastructure and secure educational requirements, so that the educational process can start in a better way.

The Syrian-American delegation included members of Citizens for a Safe America, the American Coalition for Syria, the Promise Organization, academics, and businessmen.
