Two ships coming to Syria from Turkey and Qatar to support electricity sector

Director General of the General Establishment for Electricity Transmission and Distribution, Eng. Khaled Abu Di, said in a statement to SANA that two ships from Turkey and Qatar are coming to Syria, with the aim of generating electric power estimated at 800 megawatts, which is equivalent to half of what is currently generated in Syria, which will contribute to increasing the citizen’s share of electricity by approximately 50 percent.

Abu Di added electricity transmission lines will be extended from the two ships to the nearest transformer station so as to be connected to the electricity grid.

He pointed out that the extent of the damage caused to the generation and transformation stations and electrical connection lines during the period of the defunct regime is very large, and we seek to rehabilitate the generation stations and transmission lines so that the network is able to transmit electric power.
