Mauritanian MP: Standing by Syria in its war against terrorism is a moral duty

Mauritanian MP Dah Sohaib stressed that Syria has proven over the past years its great ability to confront the fierce challenges and defeat the aggressors, stressing that standing by it in its war against terrorism is a moral duty.

MP Sohaib pointed out in an article published by the Mauritanian Sahara Center for Studies website that despite all the external pressures the Syrian state has been exposed to, it has shown exceptional steadfastness in preserving the unity of its territories and institutions.

Sohaib said: “This steadfastness would not have been possible without the Syrian people rallying around their legitimate leadership and refusing to turn their country into a squabble for foreign powers.”

Sohaib explained that the terrorist organizations that emerged in Syria in 2011 were nothing more than tools to implement the plans of foreign powers, but the unification of the will of the Syrian state, the bravery of its national army, and the friends of the Syrian people contributed to strengthening its position and thwarting the plans that targeted it.

He stressed that standing by Syria in its battle against terrorism is not just a political choice, but rather a moral duty to preserve a country that was and still is a symbol of civilization and history in the Arab world.

Sohaib noted that Syria is fighting terrorism with its various organizations that threaten regional and international security.

MP Suhaib concluded his article by saying: “What we need today is broad Arab and international solidarity with Syria, in return for its favor and in support of it in facing challenges and in preserving its security, stability and territorial integrity.”
