Egypt and Iran affirm their support for Syria in preserving its sovereignty

Iran and Egypt reiterated their firm and supportive stance on Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

 

IRNA news agency reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati discussed in a phone call last night the developments in the region, focusing on the developments in northern Syria, where Araqchi reiterated Iran’s firm policy of supporting Syria’s government, army and people in combating terrorist groups.

 

Araqchi warned of the danger of the spread of terrorist groups in the region and the serious threat this poses to peace, stability and security.

 

Araqchi called for the need to continue diplomatic efforts and consultations between influential players in the region to confront this danger.

 

In turn, Abdel Aati reiterated his country’s position and policy based on supporting Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and legal institutions.
