Damascus countryside Governor inspects conditions of displaced families from Aleppo province

Damascus countryside, (ST) – Inspecting conditions of displaced families from Aleppo province due to terrorism and identifying their needs was the focus of the tour made by Damascus countryside Governor Ahmad Khalil to temporary residence centers in Sayyida Zeinab city and Harjala town.

During the tour, Khalil stressed that “the people of Aleppo province are our people and we will do our duty towards them to the fullest extent,” indicating that the food, health and relief needs of the arrivals are being followed up moment by moment, through a working team tasked with following up on their affairs and meeting their needs, in cooperation with international organizations operating in Syria, non-governmental organizations and civil society associations.

Khalil pointed out that the Damascus countryside Governorate has equipped medical centers to provide the necessary health care for children, the elderly, the sick, and the disabled, and to provide them with psychological support through coordination with the Directorates of Health, Social Affairs, and the Red Crescent society in the governorate.

The following up on the educational and pedagogical status of the children of the displaced, in accordance with the decisions of the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Education, with the aim of accepting the students in schools and universities close to their places of residence, was also taken into consideration.

In a related context, Khalil asked the medical cadres in the Damascus countryside Governor Health Directorate and representatives of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, civil society organizations, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations to provide various types of care services to the displaced.

For their part, a number of residents expressed their confidence in the ability of the Syrian Arab Army to defeat terrorism and cleanse their areas that were affected by terrorism, stressing that the ordeals will only increase their determination to defeat terrorism and restore stability to the homeland.

The efforts of the Damascus countryside Governorate in responding to the requirements of the arrivals are supported by the United Nations Population Fund, Oxfam, the Norwegian Council, the Danish Council, First Aid International, UNICEF, the International Medical Corps, the Family Planning Association and the Mar Ephrem Organization.
