Nebenzya: We condemn the terrorist attack on Aleppo… China’s Representative: Providing assistance to Syria to eliminate terrorism

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, has affirmed his country’s condemnation of the terrorist attack launched by the terrorist organization of “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” and entities associated with it on the city of Aleppo. He noted that terrorist organizations in Syria receive support from the United States and its allies.

Nebenzya’s remarks came during an emergency session of the Security Council on Tuesday night at Syria’s request to discuss the terrorist attack on Aleppo.

These terrorists have taken control of large parts of Aleppo and are shelling the surrounding areas. Moscow has repeatedly warned the West against supporting this organization and other terrorist organizations, the Russian diplomat said, noting that it is in the interest of Western countries to dispel all doubts, especially in this operation.

He stressed that the Ukrainian authorities supported the terrorists’ attack on Aleppo and provided them with weapons, saying: “We have repeatedly spoken in the Security Council Chamber about the presence of Ukrainian military personnel and advisers from the intelligence services, who equipped and trained the forces of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, and there is dealing there between Ukraine and the terrorists, whether to recruit terrorists into the ranks of the Ukrainian forces or to fight the Syrians.”

He added, “What happened on November 26 confirmed the accuracy of the information about this cooperation, and it became clear that Ukraine has turned into a farm for international terrorism, and it threatens international security and peace, not only through its operations in Russian territory, but also in Syria.”

The Russian delegate stressed that what happened in recent days in Syria made it clear that the United States’ presence in Syria is illegal, and aims to destabilize it, as it occupies areas rich in oil and natural resources in northeastern Syria, in addition to its deployment in al-Tanf area.

Nebenzya added that the United States and its allies are seizing every opportunity to support terrorists and strangle Syria economically. He stressed that double standards are unacceptable, and the struggle against organizations classified by the United Nations as terrorist must continue, and the legitimate government in Syria must be supported, and terrorist attacks must be condemned.

In turn, China’s Permanent Representative, Fu Cong said: “The terrorist attack on Aleppo undermines stability in Syria and is a source of concern for everyone, as terrorism is a common enemy of humanity.” He stressed the importance of providing assistance to the Syrian government to eliminate terrorism and work to maintain security and stability in cooperation and coordination with the Syrian government.

The Chinese delegate called on the international community to respect Syria’s sovereignty, take measures to confront terrorists and cut off their supply lines and support channels, in addition to supporting the political solution as the only way out of the crisis in Syria.
