Iravani : Terrorist organizations’ attack on Aleppo is a blatant assault on Syria’s sovereignty

Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, stressed that the terrorist organizations’ attack on Aleppo is a blatant assault on Syria’s sovereignty, pointing out that the West, led by the United States, uses terrorism as a tool to implement its political agendas in the region.
“The Islamic Republic expresses its deep concern over the escalating situation in Syria, as the recent developments, especially those carried out by terrorist organizations such as “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham”, seriously threaten the sovereignty and stability of Syria” Iravani said During an emergency session of the Security Council on Tuesday to discuss the terrorist attack on Aleppo.
He added  that the terrorist organization launched a large-scale attack on the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib, which led to tragic and destructive results.
The Iranian ambassador Ravani said  that the terrorist organizations deliberately targeted the Iranian consulate in Aleppo, indicating that attacks on diplomatic and consular headquarters are a flagrant violation of international law and are strictly prohibited.
He held the countries that arm and support  terrorist groups with weapons and enable them to continue their attacks and violations of international norms responsible for this blatant attack.
Iravani pointed out that the terrorist attacks directly undermine the agreements reached to establish a de-escalation zone in Idlib under the Astana formula, as well as what was emphasized in the last meeting of the guarantor states “Russia, Iran and Turkey” last November in the Kazakh capital that the presence of terrorist groups threatens the lives of civilians inside and outside the de-escalation zone in Idlib.
