Araqchi: Terrorist groups’ movements in northern Syria require immediate regional and international response

Tehran(ST)-Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stressed that the movements of terrorist groups in northern Syria are supported by the United States and the Zionist entity and require coordination and an immediate response from the international community.

In a speech during the opening of the 28th meeting of foreign ministers of the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), which kicked off today in the city of Mashhad, the center of Khorasan Province, Araqchi said: “More than a year has passed since the unprecedented brutal crimes committed by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, which later extended to include the Lebanese people.. We have witnessed in recent days, coinciding with the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, movements by the Takfiri terrorist groups in Syria with the support of America and the Zionist entity.”

Araqchi stressed that “these movements require awareness and coordination from the countries of the region, in addition to an immediate and effective response from the international community.”

The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) is a regional organization that includes Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The organization strives to improve the conditions for sustainable economic development of member states and works to gradually remove trade barriers in this region.
