Russian and Iranian presidents affirm unconditional support for Syria’s measures to restore security

Moscow (ST) – During a phone call, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Peskov affirmed their unconditional support for the measures taken by Syria to restore security.

The Russian presidency stated today: “The main focus during the phone conversation was on the aggravated situation in Syria and the large-scale aggression carried out by terrorist groups was assessed as aimed at undermining the sovereignty of the Syrian state and its political, social and economic stability.”

“Unconditional support was expressed for the measures taken by the legitimate authorities in Syria to restore order and security to the country, and the importance of coordinating efforts within the Astana format with the participation of Turkey was emphasized”, the presidency added.

The Russian presidency noted that current issues related to the development of Russian-Iranian cooperation in various fields were discussed, including taking into account the agreements reached on October 23.
