The Sixth Session of Political Consultations Between the Foreign Ministries of Syria and India Discusses Bilateral Relations and Ways to Strengthen Them

The sixth political consultation session between the Syrian and Indian foreign ministries was held this morning in New Delhi, chaired by the Assistant Minister of foreign affairs and expatriates, ambassador Ayman Raad, and the joint secretary at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Ambassador Suresh Kumar.

Bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to strengthen them, especially in the political, economic, cultural and scientific fields, strengthening relations, activating bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding and opening new horizons for cooperation, and coordination between the two countries in international forums, are among the most important points discussed during the meeting.
Ambassador Kumar expressed India’s firm position in respecting the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, and India’s keenness to advance the partnership with Syria.
The assistant minister talked about the latest developments in the region, the brutal Israeli aggression against Palestine and Lebanon, and the ongoing attacks on Syrian territory, which coincide with the attacks carried out by terrorist groups led by the al-Nusra Front, which recently targeted safe towns and villages and sites of the Syrian Arab Army in northern Syria.
Raad met with undersecretary of the Ministry of External Affairs of India Arun Kumar Chatterjee, where they agreed to take practical measures to convene the Joint Committee, including the formation of working groups on trade, health and economic cooperation, in preparation for the success of its work.
Ambassador Raad explained that the Syrian side is ready to coordinate and communicate, whether through direct meetings or virtual meetings, and work under a road plan for cooperation in order to achieve the desired goals.
