With the Participation of Syria, The Meeting of Arab Justice Ministers Kicked off in the Egyptian Capital Cairo

Justice minister, Judge Ahmed al-Sayyed said during the meeting held at the headquarters of the league of Arab states: “as we are meeting today, increasing challenges are emerging before us and it is becoming more and more difficult to face them with the dangerous developments that are plaguing our region. These challenges are not new, but have become more dangerous and complicated for our peoples and states as they greatly affect the creation of an environment that is not conducive to our aspirations on various issues and we seek to find appropriate solutions to them,” noting that terrorism is the most deadly disease that has been strangling the countries and peoples of the region over the past decades.
The minister added that confronting terrorism with all its tools and resources was the greatest challenge we faced. That confrontation is based on unanimity and joint cooperation, because terrorism has a connected environment that crosses borders and states. Dismantling this environment will only be done in coordination based on a clear vision and inclusive actions.
He called for strengthening cooperation in the field of combating terrorism by finding precise mechanisms that restrict its financing, speech, groups and planners and prevent its occurrence.
“Between terrorism and hate speech is a symbiotic and reciprocal relationship,” the minister said. “Terrorism is a black thought before it is a criminal act, and we must safeguard and fortify Arab thought with a sound, balanced and healthy environment based on our human, moral and religious values.”
Minister al-Sayyed added that “despite all the great challenges faced by Syria at the infrastructure and economic levels, the government places the safe and dignified return of Syrian refugees to their homeland as a permanent priority, with the need to secure the infrastructure for this return and the requirements of reconstruction and rehabilitation.
The minister also drew attention to the efforts exerted by Syria to help confront the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon caused by the Israeli aggression. “The Syrian government has taken facilitation measures at border crossings to facilitate the entry of displaced people, and has shown all aspects of coordination and cooperation with all international organizations present at the border to overcome any obstacles that may hinder humanitarian efforts in this area,” he said.
On the sidelines of the ministerial meeting, the minister held a number of bilateral meetings with the ministers of Justice of the Sultanate of Oman Abdullah Al-Saidi, Algeria Lotfi Boujmaa, Iraq Khalid Shawani and Lebanon Henry Al-Khouri.
