In honor of the martyrs’ souls and in appreciation of their sacrifices that paved the way for victory and preserved the independence and unity of the homeland, Damascus Coutryside Governorate honored 131 families of martyrs in the governorate and invested them with the Medals of Loyalty.
The ceremony, which was held in the Sahara Complex in Damascus Countryside today, included artistic performances presented by students of the Baath Vanguards Organization expressing the importance of martyrdom for the sake of the homeland, in addition to showing a film about the martyrs of the homeland and the duties that must be done towards their families.
In a speech during the celebration, the Governor of Damascus Countryside, Ahmed Khalil, explained that this celebration is a good opportunity to offer greetings, loyalty and allegiance to the families of the martyrs who came to bless us, as they are people of holiness, purity and dignity who sacrificed their children for the homeland to live in dignity.
Khalil stressed that Damascus Countryside Governorate will not spare no effort to assist and support the families of the martyrs and it is keen to provide everything they need.
Director of the Directorate of Martyrs, Wounded and Missing Persons Affairs, Major General Bassam Berri, said in a speech that Damascus countryside has presented honorable men who taught the world that life is a stand of pride and dignity, and wrote with their blood a story whose title is sacrifice, stressing that honoring these people is an honor, pride and a medal on our chests, and we draw inspiration from them for the values of manhood, heroism and pride.
Director of the Martyrs and Local Development Office in the Damascus countryside governorate, Engineer Ahmed Kanaan, pointed out that this event is held annually to honor a new group of martyrs’ families and to hand them the medals of loyalty.
Kanaan explained that the governorate is keen to stand by these families and work to help them and provide them with assistance in their lives.
On behalf of the families of the martyrs, the wife of one of the martyrs stressed in a speech that the martyrs are the light that illuminates the darkness of the night and through them the word of truth rises, noting that the sons of the martyrs have voiced the oath and swore to continue their education so as to rebuild this country and preserve its pride and dignity.
A number of the martyrs’ families spoke of their pride and honor in the martyrdom of their sons as they paved the way for victory and heroism with their blood so that the country would remain free and independent.
Fawzia Mahmoud, the mother of the martyr Muntajab Faraj, expressed her thanks and gratitude for this generous gesture, stressing that the blood of the martyr will not go in vain because this martyrdom drew victories closer and strengthened the dignity and independence of the country.
The father of the martyr, Mohi El-Din Ibrahim, said that he is proud of his son’s martyrdom because the homeland is generous and precious and deserves our sacrifice. Meanwhile, the son of the martyr, Abdul Karim Rizq, pointed out that his father’s martyrdom gave him the strength and determination to continue his path to safeguard the homeland.
