Zakharova affirms Russia’s continued support for Syria and the Syrian people

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stressed that the major Western powers are continuing their hostile practices and attacks against Syria, which has given much of its heritage to human civilization throughout its ancient history and cultural legacy.
In a special interview with SANA’s correspondent in Moscow, Zakharova explained that attempts to target the Syrian state, its sovereignty and independence have been ongoing for years by regimes hostile to international peace and security in general, and they have chosen Syria and are still clinging to it as a target for their ongoing and continuous aggression.
Zakharova reiterated Russia’s position on supporting Syria and its people, preserving its independence and sovereignty, and affirmed Russia’s full awareness that Syria is the basis for ensuring security and stability in the region, noting that the policy of Western powers, primarily the United States and Britain, in spreading chaos through armed and terrorist groups has become exposed.
Zakharova considered that the illegal military presence of US forces in Syria represents the presence of groups of criminal militants who steal Syria’s wealth and natural resources, stressing Russia’s position of rejection and condemnation of the continued hostile US approach towards Syria.
