Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas renewed his call on the United Nations to shoulder its responsibilities by stopping the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip, expediting the entry of humanitarian aid and attaining the complete Israeli withdrawal from it.
WAFA reported that Abbas stressed during his meeting with the UN envoy to the Middle East, Tor Wennesland, in Ramallah in the West Bank, on the occasion of the end of his term, the need to implement UN Security Council Resolution No. 2735, which calls for a ceasefire in Gaza Strip to enable the State of Palestine to assume its full authority in the Strip as well as in the West Bank.
Abbas pointed out the need to prevent the implementation of the decisions of the occupation authorities to stop the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Palestinian territories, due to the dangerous consequences this decision poses for the Palestinian people.
