Significant damage to bridges due to the Israeli aggression on the border crossings in the countryside of Homs and Tartous

 

Tartous-Homs, (ST) – Last night’s brutal Israeli aggression caused severe damage and destruction to the Al-Dabbousiya, Qamar and Al-Jubaniyya bridges in the western countryside of Homs, and Al-Aridah in Tartous on the Syrian-Lebanese border, putting them out of service.

The director of the General Establishment for Road Transport in Homs, Eng. Nabil Aqoul clarified in a statement to SANA that the Israeli occupation aggression caused the destruction of the Al-Dabbousiya bridges (concrete and metal), the Qamar Bridge crossing, and Al-Jubaniyya, which are vital bridges linking Homs Governorate and the Lebanese border, thus cutting off the movement of citizens and cars across these bridges, which are considered economic and social arteries.

Aqoul clarfied that the damage to these bridges is currently being examined in preparation for putting in place the appropriate treatment for it.

In Tartous, the Director of the General Authority for Road Transport, Engineer Hussein Nasser said in a similar statement that the damage to the Al-Aridah Bridge was very severe and extensive, causing its complete destruction from the pillars to the bridge slabs, in addition to the destruction of the old bridge parallel to it.

He pointed out that the Al-Aridah Bridge is vital and secures the movement of transportation between the two sides of the southern Al-Kabir River and the connection between Tartous Governorate and the Lebanese border, to exchange the movement of citizens, freight and land transport.

Nasser indicated that the concerned engineers and technicians began to inspect the damage to the bridge, in preparation for carrying out the appropriate treatment for it.

The Israeli enemy launched an air aggression from the direction of Lebanese territory at 05:00 after midnight, targeting the border crossings between Syria and Lebanon in the western countryside of Homs and Tartous.

The aggression led to the martyrdom of six people, including two soldiers and the rest civilians, and the injury of twelve others, including children, women and workers in the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, and the occurrence of significant material damage.
