Prime Minister: Keenness to secure requirements for Successful Elections

Prime Minister Dr. Wael Halaqi stressed the government’s keenness to secure logistics means and requirements of the electoral process within a democratic, legal and constitutional framework, that meets international standards.

In a meeting yesterday, attended by Deputy Premier for Services and Minister of Local Administration, Interior Minister, governors and police chiefs and directors of civil affairs departments in the governorates, the prime minister stressed keenness to ensure the success of the electoral process through impartiality, transparency and integrity, and in being at the same distance from all nominees for the Presidency, stemmed from the commitment to implement enforced laws and regulations provided for the success of the electoral process.

He underlined the role of governors in securing citizen’s basic daily needs, the need to communicate with them and overcome the obstacles they face, and improve the performance of the administrative and service sectors.

The Prime Minister noted the role of the internal security forces and the army and armed forces in maintaining the country ‘s security.

For his part, the minister of the Interior, Maj. Gen. Mohammed al-Shaar stressed the integrated process between the governors and police chiefs in enabling citizens to exercise their electoral duty safely and conveniently, noting that the Interior Ministry is working on completing the requirements of the electoral process, regarding security and administrative measures.

He stressed close coordination between the governors, police chiefs,public bodies and economic activities, in raising citizens awareness to fulfill their duty in the presidential elections.

 

Maj. Gen. al-Shaar also underlined the role of the internal security forces in protecting institutions, preventing abuses, and enforcing the law, commending the efforts of the Civil Registry departments in certain areas in order to maintain important documents and in providing services to citizens.
