Syrian Chef Anas Qaddour Wins Best Chef Award in Malaysia

Syrian expatriate master chef and international culinary judge Anas Qaddour recently won the Oscar Award for Best Chef in Malaysia, and was also honored by the World Federation of Friends of the United Nations for his efforts in global food programs.

Chef Qaddour has achieved  successes in the field of cooking by winning many awards and honors and participating in the most important international festivals and competitions in the field of cooking, the most recent of which was his honoring by the “MGBI” Center in Malaysia as a member of the judging committees in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Chef Qaddour, who currently resides in Malaysia, has worked in the UAE, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt over the past twenty years. He runs the Culinary Innovation Training and Development Center in Kuala Lumpur and runs the Syrian Chef Foundation branch in Malaysia. With his experience and skill, he has led the foundation’s team of Syrian chefs in several international competitions and won gold medals in food and desserts.

Regarding his project to bring Syrian cuisine to all countries of the world and represent it in the most important international culinary forums, Chef Qaddour told SANA: Syrian cuisine has a unique richness and wide variety in its types and dishes in all types of cold and hot food, appetizers and desserts. Syrian food is characterized by its unique taste and distinctive forms in the presentation style, which makes it a cuisine that meets international standards and one of the most important cuisines in the world.

Chef Qaddour pointed out that Syrian food varieties satisfy different tastes and have fans from all over the world through Syrian restaurants that are increasing in all countries, indicating that the Syrian chef has become an ambassador for his country’s culture wherever he is through the distinctive dishes he presents and his winning of awards in the most important international competitions.

Regarding his next steps, Chef Qaddour pointed out that he will participate early next year as a member of the jury in the Oscar International Chef Festival competitions in Algeria, in addition to his participation in the judging committees of the Guinness Book of World Records. He will continue his work in managing and training multiple cooking teams within the Culinary Innovation Training and Development Center, with several participations in international cooking competitions as a judge, trainer, and manager of cooking teams.

The son of the Damascus neighborhood of Al-Midan concluded by saying:” We have a rich cultural heritage in cooking in Syria, which was left to us by our ancestors. Today we, as specialists in the field of cooking and who have a global classification, seek to develop this cuisine and present it according to the highest international food standards to be among the most important cuisines on the international level. ” He indicated that he is currently supervising the establishment of several restaurants within five-star international hotels in Malaysia, and the Syrian cuisine will be one of the most important menus available there, in the hands of qualified and distinguished Syrian chefs.
