Two Syrian films participate in the first session of the Fayoum Film Festival in Cairo  

The Syrian Cinema Establishment is participating in the first edition of the Fayoum International Festival for Environmental Cinema and Contemporary Arts, which will be held between the 25th and 30th of this month, through two short narrative films; the first is titled “Najma” written and directed by Mohamed Samir Tahan, and the second film is titled “Bara’a” and it is written by Shady Salami Rizk and directed by Walid Darwish.

The film “Bara’a” presents a prominent societal issue related to child labor and the impact of this social phenomenon on the future of children and on their personality furrthermore. The film also deals with the idea of innocence that the child lives by his nature, which always varies regardless of his social and class status.

The film stars “Hammoud Abu Hassoun”, “Mohamed Omar Tarkhoun”, “Retaj Sawan”, “Majd Younes”, “Lyn Younes” and “Maria Hamoud”.

The film “Najma” monitors the dimensions of the earthquake disaster on Syrian society indirectly through a dramatic story whose heroes are children, to see the effects of this great tragedy on the souls and dreams of the film’s heroes, in addition to many humanitarian cases and many charitable and solidarity initiatives whose hero was the Syrian society that healed its wounds by itself.

The film stars are “Mai Marhej”, “Firas Al-Faqir”, “Abeer Bitar”, and “Ayat Al-Atrash”, and the children “Shahd Al-Shatta”, “Yana Al-Aidi”, and “Nour Al-Din Tahan”, and Mohamed Saeed Tahan while Lyn Tahan also participated in the acting.

The Fayoum Film Festival is considered the first festival for environmental cinema and contemporary arts among the Egyptian film festivals. This festival comes within the framework of cooperation between Fayoum Governorate, several ministries, Fayoum University, and the Masar Foundation for Culture and Arts. The festival aims to attract the most important cinema stars from Egypt, and various Arab and foreign countries, within the framework of promoting tourism for the Fayoum governorate’s tourist and archaeological components.
