United Nations renews rejection of “Israel” imposing its laws on occupied Syrian Golan

The United Nations renewed its call on the Israeli occupation entity to comply with the resolutions related to the occupied Syrian Golan, especially Resolution No. 497 of 1981, which confirms that “Israel’s imposition of its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the occupied Syrian Golan is null and void and has no international legal effect.”
This came during the adoption by the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Fourth Committee of the General Assembly) of the resolution entitled “The Occupied Syrian Golan”, which was supported by an overwhelming majority represented by the vote of 152 countries in favor of the resolution, while 5 delegations voted against the resolution, including the United States and the Israeli entity.
The resolution called on “Israel”, the occupying power, to immediately cancel its decision to annex the Golan, stressing that all measures taken with the aim of changing the character and legal status of the occupied Syrian Golan are null and void and constitute a flagrant violation of international law and the Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilians in Time of War, and that they have no legal effect.
The resolution also called on “Israel” to stop imposing “Israeli citizenship and identity” on the people of the occupied Syrian Golan, and to stop the repressive measures against them. The resolution also condemned “Israel’s” violations of the Fourth Geneva Convention, renewing the request to the member states of the United Nations not to recognize any of the measures that violate international law taken by “Israel” in the occupied Syrian Golan.
The Permanent Representative of Syria to the United Nations, Ambassador Qusay Al-Dahhak, thanked the countries that supported the draft resolution, noting that they confirmed through their broad support for this resolution their rejection of the principle of occupying the lands of others by force, and sent a clear message to the Israeli occupation entity that it must end its occupation of the Syrian Golan.
