Nebenzia: Washington’s use of veto against the resolution to stop aggression is inhumane

On November 20th, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, affirmed that the United States, by using its veto, has proven its responsibility for the martyrdom and injury of tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians.
“I would like to address my American colleagues: today you have finally signed your full responsibility for the killing of tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians, for the hardships faced by refugees, and for the suffering of hostages and illegally detained Palestinians,” Nebenzia said during a meeting of the UN Security Council.
Nebenzia considered America’s “cold-blooded and cynical” obstruction of the Security Council’s simple demand to save human lives as “unreasonable and inhumane.”
Nebenzia called on Israel to stop its deadly aggression on Gaza and the West Bank, and to halt its aggression on Lebanon and Syria.
The United States used its veto to thwart a draft resolution in the UN Security Council calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip, despite the fact that 14 of the 15 council members had voted in favor of the draft resolution, at a time when the number of victims of the ongoing occupation aggression on the Strip for the 411th day has reached 43,985 martyrs and 104,092 wounded, while a number of victims are still under the rubble.

Iran has also condemned the United States for vetoing a UN resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, calling the move “disgraceful” and accusing the U.S. of granting a “license” for “Israel” to continue its violent actions in the region.

In a statement posted on X Thursday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei criticized the US for blocking the draft resolution, which had received 14 votes in favor at the UN Security Council.

He said, “This disgraceful veto not only marks another failure of the UNSC to uphold its Charter-based mandate but also serves as a US-granted license for the occupying regime to continue its carnage in Gaza and Lebanon with impunity.”
