Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls for providing international protection for children

Occupied Al-Quds (ST)-The Palestinian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the Israeli occupation continues to violate children’s rights, especially the right to life, calling on the international community to provide them with protection.

WAFA News Agency quoted the Palestinian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement, on the occasion of the International Children’s Day, which falls on November 20 of each year: The martyrdom of more than 17,490 children in Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war of extermination waged by the occupation reflects the ugliness of the ongoing war that targets innocent people indiscriminately, especially children who pay the highest price, indicating that children in Gaza face a real threat as they are exposed to bombing and starvation, and it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of them suffer from a severe shortage of food and potable water.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that children in the West Bank are being detained in flagrant violation of all international norms and agreements, including the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which guarantees special protection for children from arrest and violence, also pointing to the disastrous consequences of the occupation’s ban on UNRWA activities on services provided to children, whether health, education or living, and calling on the international community to take urgent action to ensure the occupation’s commitment to international charters and treaties, most notably the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The Palestinian National Council explained that the small bodies of children in Gaza Strip were exposed to various weapons, including missiles, bombs and the most heinous forms of killing and destruction. In addition, hundreds of thousands were killed by hunger, thirst and disease, as a result of the siege, and thousands of them became orphans, indicating that the numbers of victims are not just statistics, but rather reflect human suffering that requires immediate action by the international community to save children and guarantee their basic rights, and to assume its legal and moral responsibilities towards the crimes of the occupation.
