Syrian students in Cuba participate in celebrating the foundation anniversary of the Latin American School of Medicine “ILAM”
Havana(ST)-Syrian students studying in Cuba participated in various activities during the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Latin American School of Medicine “ELAM” in Havana.
As part of the educational and cultural experience at the school, which includes students from different continents, the Syrian students set up a special pavilion for Syria, which was widely welcomed by Cuban and foreign students. It displayed popular costumes that express Syrian folklore and culture. The pavilion also displayed a collection of photos and magazines to introduce the ancient civilization and history of Syria.
On this occasion, the first conference for graduates of the Faculty of Medicine was held at the Conference Palace in the capital, Havana, with the participation of the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic and Syrian students studying in Cuba.
The school administration presented certificates of appreciation to a number of Syrian students for their excellence and practical and academic commitment.
The Latin American School of Medicine “ELAM” was founded by the leader of the Cuban revolution, Fidel Castro, 25 years ago. More than 31,000 doctors from about 122 countries have so far graduated from this school.
