New testimonies of prisoners from Gaza reveal that the occupation continues to commit atrocities

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – New testimonies of Palestinian prisoners arrested by the Israeli occupation from Gaza Strip and documented by the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Prisoners Club revealed that the occupation continues to commit atrocities against them.

The occupation is torturing the prisoners physically and psychologically to deprive them of treatment and food.

Wafa News Agency quoted the Commission and the Club as saying in a joint statement today: Their legal teams were recently able to visit 15 prisoners from Gaza Strip in the “Ofer” prison, and all of them confirmed that they have been shackled for more than 10 months around the clock, which causes severe pain in the hands, bruises and swelling. It clarified that they are being tortured, and deprived of food, treatment, bathing and personal hygiene supplies.

The prisoners indicated in their testimonies that the occupation authorities systematically use the opening in the doors of their cells to torture them by forcing them, while they are tied up, to stick their hands out of the opening of the cell up to their armpits, and then the prison guards use several tools to beat them on their hands and bend them violently, causing unbearable pain.

The prisoners said that this type of physical torture has become the most prominent form of daily torture that all prisoners are subjected to, whether minors, sick, wounded or elderly.

The Commission and the Club indicated that in the context of the occupation’s continued implementation of the crime of enforced disappearance against hundreds of detainees from Gaza, there is no clear data from the relevant institutions regarding the total number of detainees from the Strip in the occupation’s prisons and camps, other than what the occupation authorities announced at the beginning of this month that there are 1627 detainees from Gaza, noting that this data does not include all detainees from the Strip.
