Syrian Architect and Researcher Dr. Hala Aslan receives the International  Tamayouz (Distinction)Women in Architecture and Construction  Award  2024  

Syrian Architect Dr. Hala Aslan has been granted International “Tamayouz”   Women in Architecture and Construction  Award 2024  for the Near East and North Africa region, making her the first Syrian architect to receive this award since its inception.
This award honors women who have made outstanding contributions to the fields of architecture  in the region , reflecting the status of women in these fields.
“Tamayouz” Award  is an independent initiative that aims to support ambitious architectural projects and promote the best architectural works around the world, and embodies the commitment of internationally recognized cultural and academic institutions to support issues related to architecture and the environment.
The award seeks to honor and promote the role of women in architecture, design and construction, and aims to highlight the achievements of female architects around the world.
This honor is part of a broader effort to promote gender equality in architecture and construction engineering.
The jury confirmed in its report that Dr. Aslan was selected for her exceptional work in the field of heritage conservation, especially her contributions to the rehabilitation of war-damaged sites, such as the city of Aleppo.
The jury expressed its admiration for the dedication of architect Aslan to the preservation of Syrian heritage, and looks forward to documenting her experiences in a book or comprehensive article on the rehabilitation of Syrian sites since 2011.
In her statement, Dr. Aslan considered that this award is not just a personal achievement, but rather an honor for every woman who seeks to achieve her dreams in the field of architecture.
She thanked the management and members of the jury for their confidence in her, stressing her determination to continue to provide the best she has in this field.
Aslan hoped that this award would be a source of inspiration for all ambitious women in their various fields, to continue working to bring about positive change in their communities, especially in Syrian society. It is worth noting that Dr. Aslan has previously received several international and Arab awards, including the Arab Archaeologists Union Award for Scientific Excellence for Youth in 2019, and the TOYP Award “Ten Distinguished Youth” in the  JCI International Competition in the same year.
