Abbas: International community is required to hold the occupation accountable for its crimes

Cairo, (ST) – Palestinian President MahmoudAbbas called on the international community to hold the Israeli occupation accountable and punish it for the crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing that it continues to commit against the Palestinian people.

Abbas clarified in a speech today, reported by the WafaNews Agency: “The occupation has destroyed more than 80 percent of the homes, facilities, hospitals and schools in Gaza Strip, in addition to the martyrdom and injury of more than 143 thousand people.”He added ,”

The occupation continues to commit crimes of stealing land and natural resources in the West Bank, including Al-Quds, where it imposes major challenges that hinder sustainable urban development efforts in more than 60 percent of the West Bank and the entire city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem).”

Abbas stressed that implementing the relevant United Nations resolutions, the latest of which is the General Assembly resolution on the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, and the State of Palestine obtaining its full membership in the United Nations is a basic right in order to achieve justice in the region.  He stressed the need to implement the Security Council resolution on an immediate ceasefire and the occupation’s withdrawal from the entire Gaza Strip.
