Syrian film (Salma) at Cairo International Film Festival

Damascus (ST) – The Syrian film “Salma” by director Jude Said is participating in the Cairo International Film Festival in the Arab Film Competition, which is being held as part of the 45thsession from the 13th to the 22nd of this month.

The festival administration announced the list of films to be screened in the Horizons of Arab Cinema Competition, which is fourteen films, including the film “Salma”.

The film tells the story of Salma, who seeks to find a solution to her problems after her husband disappeared, only to find herself in the end facing two choices: either to continue the confrontation until the end with all the sacrifice that entails, or to choose her individual salvation with her family.

The film Salma was written by Jude Saeed, Tarek Allaf and Somar Ibrahim and directed by Jude Saeed, with the stars Sulaf Fawakherji, Bassem Yakhour and Majd Fadda, and produced by Jude Art Production in collaboration with Adams Production and Al-Muthanna Group.

The film received production support from the General Organization for Cinema in Damascus and was dedicated to the spirit of the late Syrian film director Abdul Latif Abdul Hamid.

It is noteworthy that this is the fourth time that Jude Saeed has participated in the Cairo Film Festival in the Arab Film Competition, as he began his participation with the film Waiting for Autumn 2015, for which he won the Best Film Award as this participations were followed by Rain of Homs 2017 and Youssef’s Journey 2021.

The festival management announced the full statistics of the participating films, which include 194 films from 72 countries, while the events include 16 red carpet screenings, 37 world premieres, 8 international premieres, and 119 screenings for the Middle East and Africa region.
