The Syria Trust for Development in cooperation with the Finnish Relief Organization: In the Aleppo countryside, legal services and consultations for arrivals from Lebanon

As part of the continued provision of services by the initial legal response teams to arrivals from Lebanon, the Syria Trust for Development and the Finnish Relief Organization implemented awareness sessions and provided individual legal consultations to arrivals hosted at the Mishrifa  Abu Jabbar School in the countryside of Al-Bab in Aleppo Governorate.

The director of the Initial Legal Response Program at the Syria Trust for Development, lawyer Bashar Skaif, stated to a SANA correspondent that the program participated in the emergency response to arrivals from Lebanon by being present at the border crossings of “Jdeidet Yabous, Dabousiya, Al-Jousiya and Al-Aridah”. In these places legal needs were monitored, crossings were facilitated and some emergency needs were settled, and then cases were transferred to the governorates.

Skaif pointed out that advertisements were distributed for hotlines, in addition to the phone numbers of the legal response team and their locations to answer any consultation or need. He indicated that the initial legal response teams are still working to provide their legal services and consultations to returnees from Lebanon for free.

In turn, the field officer of the Finnish Relief Organization, Munir Al-Akash, stated that the organization worked to rehabilitate the Mishrifa Abu Jabbar School in the countryside of Al-Bab, with funding from the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and to secure all its educational requirements.

Lawyer Ahmed Najjar from the Initial Legal Response Program team in Aleppo pointed out that awareness sessions were provided on the importance of registering births, marriages, divorces and deaths, establishing children’s lineage, and providing individual legal consultations so that the team could follow up on cases and communicate with them.

The director of Mishrifa Abu Jabbar School, Ahmed Al-Othman, stated that 133 students coming from Lebanon have been registered since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, and that an acceptance test has been conducted for them.
