Syrian researcher comes in 2nd place in the Arab League Award for Law and Judiciary

NOUAKCHOTT, Nov.2, (ST)-Syrian researcher Dr. Alaa Shaheen came 2nd place in the Arab League Award for Law and Judiciary, which is organized this year by the Mauritanian Ministry of Justice in cooperation with the Arab Center for Legal and Judicial Research in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott.

Dr. Shaheen came in second place in the private law category for her thesis titled “Legal Protection of Intellectual Property in Television Series” during the 2nd  edition of the Arab League Award.

The Mauritanian Prime Minister, the Minister of Justice, and the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League gave the  prizes to the winners in the competition.

The prize was given to Dr. Shaheen in the presence of the Syrian Ambassador to Mauritania, Qusay Mustafa.

The Mauritanian News Agency reported: “The Council of Arab Ministers of Justice seeks, through this award, to encourage researchers in the Arab world to innovate with the aim of raising the level of performance and service, monitoring their legal practices and experiences for reaching the frameworks and features of Arab law and judiciary, and encouraging comparative field and applied studies, which monitor Analyzing and evaluating Arab legal experiences that deal with realistic problems of law and judiciary.”

The prizes for the second edition of the award were won by a group of distinguished Arab researchers from Syria, Iraq, Morocco, Algeria, and Egypt.

It is worthy to mention that the award is organized every two years for the category of young researchers holding a doctorate degree, and it is supervised by the Arab Center for Legal and Judicial Research, which acts as the technical secretariat.
