Sabbagh discusses with Lavrov developments in the region and the need to stop the Israeli aggression against its peoples
As part of their participation in the Second International Conference on Eurasian Security in the Belarusian capital, Minsk, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Bassam Sabbagh met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in the presence of the delegations accompanying the two ministers who discussed some aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries, in addition to the dangerous developments in the region, and the need to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Palestinian and Lebanese territories, as well as the repeated Israeli attacks on Syria.
During the meeting, Minister Sabbagh pointed out that despite the difficult circumstances facing Syria, the Syrian government has taken a series of measures to receive and secure arrivals from brotherly Lebanon as a result of the Israeli aggression against it, stressing in this regard the facilities provided to the large number of Syrian returnees, which refute the allegations which some Western circles are trying to promote regarding aspects related to the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.
The two ministers also discussed the ongoing preparations for holding the twenty-second meeting on Syria according to the Astana format in mid-November, taking into account the importance of this track in working to restore security and stability in Syria.
