Israeli occupation calls on UN rapporteur Albanese to resign

The Israeli occupation has once again called on the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, to resign following her call for suspending Israel’s membership in the United Nations, declaring it an apartheid entity, and imposing sanctions on it.
The WAFA news agency quoted the Israeli occupation’s representative to the United Nations, Danny Danon, as saying in a post on the X platform in response to the report submitted by Albanese to the UN General Assembly: “Your presence in the United Nations is a disgrace and a betrayal of all moral standards. Resign immediately, leave your credentials at the door.”
Albanese submitted a report to the General Assembly last night entitled “Genocide as Colonial Erasure,” in which she explained that the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people is the result of “Israel’s” impunity.
Albanese called  for sanctions and a ban on arms supplies to it until it stops its aggression and withdraws completely from the occupied Palestinian territory.
The occupation launched a fierce incitement campaign against Albanese a few days ago, which the Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned, stressing that it aims to distract attention from the ongoing war crimes and genocide, and reflects the occupation’s attempt to prevent UN experts from documenting and exposing its crimes.
The occupation, supported by the United States, continues its disdain for the United Nations. On the second of this month, it announced the prevention of the Secretary-General of the organization, Antonio Guterres, from entering the occupied Palestinian territories.
Last December, the occupation cancelled the residency of the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in the occupied Palestinian territories, Lynn Hastings, after she warned of the disastrous effects of the war and demanded that it stop.
It also cancelled the residency of the head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Andrea Di Domenico, last August, in addition to the occupation’s repeated targeting of UN crews in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the martyrdom of more than 200 relief workers.
