Minsk, (ST) – Foreign and Expatriates Minister Bassam Sabbagh discussed in Minsk with Natalia Kochanova, Speaker of the Republic Council of the Belarusian National Assembly, aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially the development of parliamentary relations between the Syrian People’s Assembly and the Belarusian Parliament.
Minister Sabbagh stressed that people’s parliamentary diplomacy has become an important part of general diplomacy in any country, and that members of parliaments, directly elected by the peoples, are the most capable of expressing the interests and concerns of the peoples in a transparent and realistic manner.
Minister Sabbagh valued the friendship and true partnership between the two countries, which helps them face common challenges, most notably attempts to interfere in their internal affairs, and unilateral coercive measures imposed on their peoples, which caused great human suffering.
In turn, Kochanova conveyed the thanks of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenka to Syria for being a strong and honest partner of Belarus on the international scene in confrontation the challenges it faces.
She expressed her country’s interest in cooperating with Syria in all political, economic, commercial, cultural and humanitarian fields.
